These so called inspectors usually have restricted licenses ie carpenters, painters , landscapers, bricklayers or no licenses at all. Recently 2 and 3 day courses have been conducted here in South Australia with the result being you have just become a qualified building inspector.

There are many that have taken advantage of the non uniform licensing Laws in Australia to make a quick buck.

The minimum qualification in our opinion should be an unrestricted general builders supervisors license as in QLD and NSW which is obtained thru your respective states governing body. This license can only be obtained by years of experience and / or proper educational qualifications.

To ensure your building and pest inspector complies with current Australian Standards, they must provide you with an inspection agreement form. If they do not provide an inspection agreement form than in most cases they are usually not insured or properly qualified to provide building or pest inspection services.
